What to expect from the Tarmac Apprenticeship Scheme
Apprentices are crucial to our business, as we look to the next generation of talent to help us build a better future. There’ll be no tea making or waiting around in this role! Attracting, developing and keeping the best talent possible at Tarmac is the goal, and we’ll support you no matter what stage you are in your career.
Whether you were a high achiever at school or college, or school just really wasn’t your thing – it doesn’t matter. We’re interested in you as a person and what you’ll bring to our business! It’s really important to us that you enjoy yourself when you join Tarmac, as well as gaining some industry recognised qualifications along the way. Our schemes vary from purely office or purely site-based position, to a blend of both.
Don’t be shy – you don’t have to be straight out of school or college to apply for our schemes. If you’re looking to make a career transition or re-train, we’d love to help you with that too.

Applications for our 2024 Apprentice Programmes are now open. If you're looking to pursue a career in an area where we don't have 'live' vacancies, we'd love for you to register your interest. By doing so, we'll let you know full details of any additional programmes that may be launched in the new year.

2024 Apprentice Programmes - Online Guidance Sessions
Considering your future career and considering apprenticeship options? We're holding a series of online apprenticeship guidance evenings, to showcase our 2024 routes and pathways.
At these online sessions, you'll be introduced to the industry, and operations across our regions, with our apprentices on hand to share their career journey to date.
Our Resourcing Team will guide you through what our selection stages include, with the aim being to provide you with what you need, to confidently complete and submit your application before our closing dates.

We’re proud of the standard of training on offer with us. Whether you’re assigned to a college, or take up one of our tailored, in-house programmes, we’ll work with you to provide the qualifications that will set you up for your future career.
As well as a blend of formal learning and hands-on contact time with some of the most experienced professionals in the industry, you’ll receive a great salary and a number of company benefits. Role dependent, you'll be given a company car or van for when you're out and about travelling between different sites and locations.

Indoors
Keep Tarmac running and improving behind the scenes in one of our offices. You’ll often hear these referred to as ‘corporate functions’. From finance and marketing, to IT, HR and procurement, you’ll help Tarmac run as efficiently as possible and help us move forward as a business. There are jobs and so much more on offer here.
Outdoors
Operational roles are the heartbeat of Tarmac, producing and providing materials to build a more sustainable future. From engineering and quarry management to HGV drivers and machine operators, take pride in helping us build the UK. Roads, buildings, hospitals and offices – we do it all.
Hybrid
We need to keep that link between the operational business and corporate functions. Join us in commercial, technical and a variety of different jobs to experience both office and site-based work. You’ll help us make sure we’re all on the same page and experience a role where no two days are the same!
Parents and teachers
