We are currently looking for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment Business partner to join our team in Aberthaw Cement Plant near Cardiff. We’re working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds. However, this is a varied, complex and rewarding position that requires experience of health, safety and environmental responsibilities within a heavy industrial environment. You will also be experienced and up to date in UK health and safety regulations, acts and approved codes of practices and a NEBOSH or IOSH qualification could help demonstrate this prowess. A degree is essential and this would ideally be in an environmental, chemical or similar technical discipline. You will also need exceptional communication and engagement skills as you will need to inspire and influence at all levels internally, but also externally with relevant agencies, local authorities and the local community as appropriate.

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to develop practical procedures, training plans and audit protocols to ensure compliance. Therefore, practical experience in ERP and greenhouse gas permits as well as technical safety such as working at height, confined spaces, Construction Design Management, Quarry and Mobile plant safety would be ideal. Experience in risk assessment and practical risk exposure management in industrial operational plants is essential as are leadership and influencing skills as well as resilience and attention to detail.

Reporting directly to the Site Manager, with a dotted line into the Cement and Lime Heath and Safety team, you will be responsible for building a positive and proactive positive safety culture, driving the appropriate behaviours across all health, safety and environment initiatives and activities. In order to achieve this, you will need to create employee engagement, awareness and training activities as well as supporting the management team to enable them to drive day to day health, safety and environmental compliance.  You will also analyse and report on key statistics and trends to the team, assisting in near hit and accident investigations using Root Cause Analysis. Finally, you will have the opportunity to collaborate as part of the wider team Cement and Lime Health and Safety team to develop standards and establish best practice across the whole of the business unit and wider Tarmac too.
