Who are we looking for?
As our ideal Technical Higher Apprentice you will need to be enthusiastic, well organised, and a self-motivated, self starter, willing to learn and take on a challenge. To be successful in this role we are looking for someone who is an effective communicator, has a passion for sustainability and has a natural innovative engineering nature.
To apply you will have to have 5 x National 5 awards, including English and Maths at Grade 4 or above plus 80 UCAS points or equivalent at Higher / Advanced Higher level, preferably in a science subject.
What might my programme entail?
The role of Technical Higher Apprentice will be reporting to the Area Technical Manager and form part of the Technical team. The role will develop a thorough understanding of technical practices at various sites within the Scotland region. This will include developing a detailed understanding of our different product streams and associated processes, procedures and quality standards, e.g. Asphalt, Crushed Rock, Sand & Gravel and Concrete. As part of the technical team, you will also working closely with the Operations and Commercial teams to understand how the products performs, ensuring operational and customer expectations are met. This will involve providing a technical presence at customer sites when necessary to support the resolution of any issues.
You will also be enrolled in a course of study, in conjunction with University of Derby, that will qualify you to foundation degree level with the option for further study to Honours Degree level thereafter.
